 Curriculum

The Episcopal Children’s Curriculum is used with Pre-School – Grade 1, and Grades 5-7. The curriculum seeks to support and strengthen the ministry of teaching in the Episcopal Church, and includes lessons related to the Old and New Testaments, the Sacraments, and the Church.

Teachers use the Living the Good News Curriculum with Grade 2-4.  This lectionary-based curriculum is designed to make meaningful connections to the day’s lessons and Gospel.

The 8th-12th grade classroom has lively discussions sometimes relating the lessons for the day to life as a teenager, but also sometimes getting off on a complete tangent!   Either way, it’s fun!

Sunday School at St. George’s

St. George’s has a strong commitment to Christian Education and is blessed with a growing number of children. Currently sixty children are enrolled in grades preschool through high school. St. George’s Sunday School teachers continue to guide the children and youth of our parish through their life in Christ. Sunday School classes are held weekly during the 10:00 service from September to June, with class composition determined by children’s ages and grade levels so that content is developmentally appropriate to each group.

Children in grades preschool to four attend the service from the procession until the Gloria, then leave the service with their teachers to attend Sunday School. Following their lessons, the children return to the service to receive communion or a blessing. Students in grade five and up attend Sunday School from the sermon until the Peace. The timing of the Sunday School program during the service allows for many of our children and youth to participate in the liturgy as acolytes or choir members.
