Fun & Fellowship

If there is one thing St. George’s knows how to do well (besides worship, of course) it’s how to have Fun!

Click on the images below to see pictures and captions from some of our very favorite fellowship events.  Why don’t you come and join us for a few?  You might even find yourself on this page!

What kinds of events do you have?

As you will soon see, many of the events at St. George’s center on food and dining together.  This is not only great fun, but we believe it is a form of communion as well.  Our Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist, a meal, as one of the chief Sacraments of the church and was made known to the disciples after His resurrection when he broke bread with them.  Breaking bread together is central to the fellowship life of St. George’s, a warm, fun-loving community where life-long friendships have taken root.

Men Cook  –  An annual event that pits two teams of our talented chefs in a culinary tour-de-force before a discriminating – and hungry – audience.

Shrove Sunday Pancake Breakfast  –  The Sunday before Ash Wednesday the parish puts on a pancake breakfast.

High Tea  –  an Anglican tradition!  The ladies of St. George’s visit A Taste of Britain, a local tea room.

Progressive Dinner  –  A gastro-tour of some of our parishioners’ homes.

Mother’s Day Photos  – A new tradition for 2011.  Come and celebrate your Mom!

Easter Bunny Pancake Breakfast  –  The Saturday before Palm Sunday, our children will get not just a delicious pancake breakfast, but also a visit from the Easter bunny.

Easter Egg Hunt  –  After the 10am Easter Day service.

Battle of the Bands  –  Youth bands from around Ardmore and Havertown compete for the top title.  Sign your band up in advance!

Summer BYOM Family Tailgates – BYOM means Bring Your Own Meat – a family friendly summer tradition that keeps the fellowship going through the warmer months.  The grills are hot, all you gotta do is come out with your food!

Chicken BBQ – A summer favorite outdoor fundraiser featuring St. George’s secret BBQ recipe.  Always a sellout!

Sulgrave Classic  –  a Wiffle ball game of epic proportions pitting the kids vs. the parents.  Anyone can play – if you have children, you’re on the parents team, if you do not (regardless of age) you’re on the kids team!

Fall Feast  –  Held annually to welcome the congregation (young and old) back from the summer with a  feast of lobster, steak, chicken, and live music.

Pumpkin Carving Party  –  A family Halloween tradition, in costume of course!

Holiday Gala  –  A catered, semi-formal celebration of the season featuring music, dancing, live auction, and raffle.
